Counsellor for Children & Young People (5‑13) – Full‑time

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position offers qualified counsellors the chance to make a lasting impact on the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 5‑13 across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑appointment sessions using the Single Sessions Thinking (SST) approach.
• Deliver short‑term therapeutic interventions for mild to moderate mental‑health needs.
• Conduct a blend of face‑to‑face and online counselling sessions, primarily in schools.
• Maintain accurate case notes and adhere to safeguarding policies.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Required profile

• Qualified counsellor, BACP registered or equivalent.
• Post‑qualification experience working with children and young people (5‑13) with mental‑health needs.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to child protection.
• Ability to travel daily across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
• Willingness to work from home and attend sessions in schools.

Required skills
