Cover Supervisor – Part‑time Teaching Role

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a West Sussex school on a part‑time, permanent basis. You will step in when the class teacher is absent, delivering pre‑prepared lessons and ensuring continuity of learning for pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise students and deliver pre‑prepared educational resources during teacher absence.
• Maintain a calm, purposeful classroom environment and uphold high behavioural standards.
• Follow school systems and procedures to minimise disruption.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress.
• Manage classroom activities, ensuring students complete tasks and understand instructions.

Required profile

• Highly adaptable, responsive and flexible.
• Excellent communication and classroom management abilities.
• Calm, fair, positive and assertive when maintaining standards.
• Passion for learning and working with young people.
• Relevant educational background or experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred).

Required skills

• Effective verbal communication.
• Classroom behaviour management.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and school policies.
