Cover Supervisor with SEN Experience

About the role

We are seeking a Cover Supervisor with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to work in Bath schools during school hours. The role involves supervising classes when teachers are absent, delivering pre‑set work, and providing targeted support to help SEN pupils achieve their academic potential.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated learning activities for SEN pupils.
• Supervise classes during short‑term teacher absences, ensuring students stay on task.
• Provide targeted SEN support, adapting approaches to individual needs.
• Maintain records and evaluate progress of identified students.
• Assist in developing and implementing individual support plans.
• Prepare students for tasks through pre‑teaching and supervise practical activities.
• Carry out structured classroom assessments and provide feedback.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
• Confidence in managing classroom behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.
• Patience, empathy and a calm, consistent approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and work independently.
• Relevant degree; qualifications such as Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support or SEND training are desirable.
