Customer Delivery Driver, Supermarket Assistant (Christmas)

About the role

Waitrose is looking for a Customer Delivery Driver for its Christmas season in Winton, Dorset. The role is highly active and physical and customer-facing: you deliver groceries to customers' doors and, when not on the road, help with stock replenishment and housekeeping at the shop. The job is temporary, part-time at around 20 hours per week across seven days, including early starts, late finishes, evenings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Start each day in the store, then act as a friendly face for the brand on the road, with excellent customer service as your main goal.
• Talk with customers about order changes such as substitutions or short-dated items, and arrange refunds quickly if they are unhappy.
• Handle all products and deliveries carefully, and make sure customers know they will not be charged extra for substituted items.
• Help customers with their groceries and build a trusting relationship with them.
• Familiarise yourself with your delivery route for the day.
• Carry out a full safety check of the van before leaving.
• Help the wider CFC team with general warehouse tasks when off the road.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older.
• Full, valid UK manual car driving licence (B-category) with no more than 6 penalty points.
• People skills and a friendly approach to customer service.
• Ready for physical work such as lifting crates, walking up stairs and moving large cages of about 18kg.
• Desirable: previous work driving experience or knowledge of refrigerated vans.

What we offer

• Pay of £14.31 per hour, with night premium of £3.75 per hour between 22:00 and 06:00.
• Partner discounts of 25% at John Lewis and 20% at Waitrose after completing the 90-day earning membership.
• Up to £200 towards paid courses, holiday and leave, pension and life assurance, and clubs and societies.
• Support for flexible working where possible, such as flexible or compressed hours, job sharing or shorter-hour contracts.
