Customer Delivery Driver – Weekend Part-Time

About the role

Waitrose is looking for a Customer Delivery Driver for its Customer Fulfilment Centre in Coulsdon. The role is a highly active, physical, customer-facing position: you deliver groceries to customers' doors and, when not on the road, help with warehouse tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping. The job is permanent and part-time, with 8-hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays, either an AM rota (starts 5:00-8:30) or a PM rota (starts 12:00-15:30). Pay is £15.98 per hour, with night premium of £3.75 per hour for work between 22:00 and 06:00.

Key responsibilities

• Start each day in store, then act as a friendly face for the brand on the road, with excellent customer service as your main goal.
• Talk with customers about order changes such as substitutions or short-dated items, and arrange refunds quickly if they are unhappy.
• Handle all products and deliveries carefully, and explain that substituted items cost nothing extra.
• Help customers with their groceries and build a trusting relationship with them.
• Familiarise yourself with your daily delivery route and give the van a full safety check.
• Help the wider CFC team with general warehouse tasks when off the road.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older.
• Full, valid UK manual car driving licence (B-category) with no more than 6 penalty points.
• People skills and a friendly approach to customer service.
• Willingness to do physical work such as lifting crates, walking up stairs and moving large cages of around 18kg.
• Previous driving experience or knowledge of refrigerated vans is a plus.

What we offer

• £15.98 per hour, with night premium of £3.75 per hour for work between 22:00 and 06:00.
• Partner discounts: 25% off at John Lewis and 20% at Waitrose (after completing the 90-day Earning Membership).
• Up to £200 towards paid tutor-led courses, holiday and leave, pension and life assurance, and club memberships.
• Support for flexible working, including flexible or compressed hours, job sharing or shorter contracts where possible.
