Data Analyst – Power BI & SQL

About the role

You will work for a local council in Oxfordshire, developing reports and dashboards using Power BI, SQL and an internal system called QL (training provided). The role involves tracking performance, identifying trends and supporting the migration of Excel reports into Power BI.

Key responsibilities

• Support statistical returns to the Government (HCLIC, tenant satisfaction, council‑owned housing stock) and ensure timely submission.
• Liaise with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities to guarantee accurate data delivery.
• Collaborate with managers and teams to make relevant data available for service delivery and development, providing training where needed.
• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards in Power BI, SQL and QL to monitor performance and inform Housing Services.
• Maintain in‑depth knowledge of departmental IT systems and support colleagues to ensure correct recording of customer information.
• Assist with the management of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests.

Required profile

• Experienced data analyst, preferably with previous council experience.
• Strong technical background in Power BI, SQL and Excel.
• Experience with government statistical returns is highly desirable.
• Availability for interviews on the upcoming Thursday and Friday.
