Data Engineer / BI Engineer – Hybrid (Newcastle)

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer / BI Engineer to join our growing team in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role is hybrid, with three days a week in the office, and will play a key part in a modern data transformation programme, including a migration to Microsoft Fabric.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data pipelines using Apache Airflow.
• Design, optimise and implement SQL‑based data solutions on Azure SQL.
• Build and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards for business users.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver actionable insights.
• Support continuous improvements to the data platform and reporting environment.
• Contribute to the organisation’s migration to Microsoft Fabric.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data engineering and business intelligence.
• Hands‑on experience with Apache Airflow, Azure SQL and Power BI.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data‑warehousing concepts.
• Excellent communication skills for working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Adaptable, collaborative and willing to support a small, dynamic team.
