Data Lifecycle Project Manager (Fixed Term)

About the role

The School of Clinical Medicine's Research Governance team is appointing a Data Lifecycle Project Manager to turn highly valuable research data assets into sustainable data products usable internally and by external researchers. Clinical School researchers generate large amounts of data stored across University IT platforms and cloud systems, but few datasets are FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). The role is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, full time, fixed term for 12 months initially, and sits within the University Clinical Governance team.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with Clinical School researchers to identify and catalogue health research data cohorts suitable for turning into FAIR data products.
• Work with the Clinical School Information Governance Manager, Cambridge University Hospitals and Cambridge and Peterborough Foundation Trust R&D offices, and the University Research Office, to create a checklist of governance processes (ethics and contractual) that helps researchers decide whether sharing their data externally is feasible, legal and within funder terms.
• Put together a policy and manual for researchers to manage collated datasets sustainably throughout the data lifecycle and make them FAIR.
• Liaise with CUH R&D, the Clinical School Research Governance team, the Research Office, the University Research Operations Office, the Computing Service and the University Information Services, and with other institutions on the Biomedical Campus.
• Liaise with NHS Secure Data Environment teams and other health data platform providers to create a storage user guide and costings for each environment.
• Provide a checklist for researchers applying for access to data.
