Data Platform Engineer

About the role

Alfred H Knight is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join its Group IT team at the global headquarters in Prescot, Merseyside. The role focuses on building and supporting modern data platform solutions, ensuring reliable data pipelines and enabling analytics across the AHK Group.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using SQL Server Integration Services.
• Manage and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments, including query performance and routine maintenance.
• Develop and support semantic models and reporting solutions such as Power BI.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.

Required profile

• Strong experience in T‑SQL development and performance tuning on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Hands‑on experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, preferably using SSIS.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
• Experience supporting production data environments and ensuring data quality.
• Degree level education in IT, Computer Science, Science or Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
