Database & Development Officer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Database & Development Officer to join our Development and Alumni Relations team at the University of Oxford. The role focuses on maintaining high‑quality alumni and donor data to support fundraising and reporting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and continuously improve the alumni database of approximately 5,500 records.
• Act as a Super User of the DARS system, handling data entry, query creation and reporting.
• Design and implement new processes to increase office efficiency.
• Support fundraising and alumni projects by providing accurate data for mailings, publications and appeals.
• Prepare data extracts and segmentation for campaigns and reports.
• Oversee donation information, ensure timely acknowledgment and secure Gift Aid declarations.
• Collaborate with the central Gift Registry and finance teams to reconcile philanthropic revenue.
• Produce regular reports on funds received, outstanding pledges and annual reporting data.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented with strong organisational skills.
• Experience working with large relational databases or similar data‑management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with finance, development and alumni staff.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £18.80 plus holiday pay.
• Full‑time contract (37.5 hours/week) for an initial 12‑week period.
