Dementia Buddy - Part-Time Care Worker

About the role

Essential Homecare Services is a domiciliary care agency providing care in the North Down and Ards area since 1997, through its domiciliary care and dementia buddy respite services. It is looking for a part-time Dementia Buddy to attend service users' homes and provide care according to their personal care plan.

Key responsibilities

• Attend service users' homes and carry out the care duties set out in their personal care plan
• Ensure compliance with the personal care plan and comply with NISCC registration
• Report any change in your personal circumstances that could affect your ability to perform your duties
• Personal care tasks: assist with bathing, incontinence products, catheter care and stoma bags; assist with dressing and undressing
• Assist with mobility and transfers using professionally assessed equipment
• Assist with feeding as recommended by speech and language therapists and provide emotional support
• Communicate effectively with service users, colleagues and the management team

Required profile

• Right to live and work in the UK
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
• Willingness to obtain business car insurance
• Flexibility regarding working hours
• Honest, trustworthy, reliable with excellent attendance, highly self-motivated and able to keep confidential information
• Professional manner with service users and their families

Desired criteria

• Previous experience in the care industry

What we offer

• Pay of £12.50 (driver) / £11.50 (non-driver) per hour Monday to Friday 7am-7pm, and £13.00 (driver) / £11.50 (non-driver) on Saturday and Sunday from 7pm until midnight
• Mileage payment of 37 pence per mile
