Depot Operative – Full‑time at Fawley Yard

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Depot Operative to join a leading engineering and equipment‑hire business at its Fawley Yard facility in Southampton. The role is full‑time and permanent, supporting the safe storage, maintenance and dispatch of hire equipment to a wide range of commercial and industrial customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, unload and safely store hire equipment, keeping the depot organised.
• Clean, maintain and test cold‑store units and associated plant in line with operating procedures.
• Inspect, service and prepare equipment for customer dispatch, ensuring full operational readiness.
• Pick equipment for hire orders accurately using internal computer systems.
• Update inventory records and maintain accurate stock information.
• Assist with loading and unloading activities while upholding quality and safety standards.
• Carry out routine inspections, report maintenance needs and support a standby rota covering evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a warehouse, depot, logistics, engineering or equipment‑hire environment.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail in a fast‑paced setting.
• Willingness to work on a standby rota that may include evenings and weekends.

Required skills

• Proficiency with internal inventory and computer systems.
• Manual handling competence following health‑and‑safety guidelines.
