Deputy Chair of Trustees

About the role

The Deputy Chair of Trustees will support the Chair in leading the charity’s board and help shape its strategic direction. This voluntary position offers a valuable entry point into charity governance for individuals passionate about community empowerment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chair with their duties and step in to lead board meetings when required.
• Collaborate with trustees, staff, and volunteers to oversee operations, compliance, and strategic planning.
• Participate in quarterly board meetings and sub‑committee sessions.
• Contribute to specific projects on behalf of the board.

Required profile

• Strong leadership, decision‑making and strategic planning abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the charity’s mission of empowering the local community.
• Knowledge of local community needs is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Experience overseeing financial management and compliance processes (preferred but not mandatory).
