Deputy Manager - Children's Homes

About the role

The Deputy Manager supports the daily operation of a residential children’s home, ensuring a safe, secure and motivating environment for both young people and staff. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to deliver high‑quality care for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing day‑to‑day home operations and maintaining high standards of care.
• Support and supervise staff, promoting a positive team culture.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all young people in the home.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, including psychologists and occupational therapists, to deliver holistic support.
• Monitor attendance, behaviour and progress of young people, reporting to senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in residential childcare.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a children’s home setting.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of residential childcare best practices.
• Understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs of young people.
• Effective communication and team‑leadership abilities.
