Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home (London)

About the role

The Deputy Manager supports the Registered Manager in delivering high‑quality care within a children’s residential home in Greenwich, London. This senior position involves leading staff, ensuring safeguarding compliance, and creating a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and deputise for the Registered Manager on a daily basis.
• Lead shifts, supervise staff, and manage rotas.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations.
• Oversee care planning, record‑keeping, and documentation.
• Support staff development through supervision and training.
• Work directly with children and young people when required.
• Liaise with families, external professionals, and agencies.
• Manage incidents, safeguarding concerns, and complaints.
• Ensure health, safety, and property standards are upheld.
• Participate in on‑call duties and flexible working arrangements.

Required profile

• Experience in a senior role within children’s residential care.
• Experience working with children who have emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Strong leadership, communication, and crisis‑management abilities.
• Comprehensive safeguarding knowledge.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work flexibly, including on‑call duties.
