Design Engineer – Civil Structures

About the role

Robert Bird Group is seeking a Design Engineer to contribute to early‑stage civil and structural design on rail, highway, energy and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. The role involves designing operational assets such as bridges, stations and heavy civils while ensuring seamless integration across engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs for bridges, stations and other civil structures.
• Support inspection, strengthening and replacement design of existing infrastructure.
• Coordinate design activities with stakeholders including Network Rail and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure designs meet project cost, programme and quality targets.

Required profile

• Background in civil or structural engineering with experience in infrastructure design.
• Ability to work collaboratively with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
• Familiarity with rail, highway or energy project environments.
