DevOps Cloud Engineer

About the role

Target Group is seeking a DevOps Cloud Engineer to design, build and operate secure, scalable AWS platforms that support critical financial services. The role combines cloud engineering, automation and security to deliver resilient, cloud‑native solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement AWS environments using services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS/Aurora, API Gateway and CloudFront following Well‑Architected principles.
• Automate provisioning and delivery through CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation).
• Develop and maintain containerised, serverless and micro‑service architectures.
• Configure and manage cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, transit gateways, VPNs and multi‑account setups.
• Embed security‑by‑design by implementing IAM, encryption, firewalls, WAF and Zero Trust controls.
• Ensure reliability and observability with monitoring, logging, alerting and incident response.
• Optimise performance and cost using FinOps practices such as cost monitoring and rightsizing.

Required profile

• Proven experience with AWS cloud services across compute, networking, storage and security.
• Hands‑on expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Terragrunt, CloudFormation).
• Strong background in CI/CD pipelines and Git‑based workflows.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS).
• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking fundamentals (VPC, routing, DNS, load balancers, firewalls).
