About the role

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will work at the heart of a modern AWS environment, ensuring our cloud platforms are secure, resilient and highly available while supporting continuous delivery and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and support AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda and networking components.
  • Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild and related tooling.
  • Support containerised application deployments using Docker and Amazon ECS.
  • Automate operational processes with Python, Shell scripting and AWS-native services.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation, AWS CDK and/or Terraform.
  • Monitor platform performance, availability and system health.
  • Support incident response, root‑cause analysis and continuous service improvement.
  • Collaborate with developers, testers and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to platform reliability, disaster recovery and cloud cost optimisation initiatives.
  • Produce technical documentation, operational procedures and runbooks.

Required profile

  • Commercial experience in a DevOps, Cloud Engineering or Platform Engineering role.
  • Strong AWS experience across core services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM and CloudWatch.
  • Hands‑on experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines, particularly with AWS CodePipeline and CodeBuild.
  • Experience deploying and supporting containerised workloads using Docker and Amazon ECS.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code principles and tools (CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform).
  • Scripting experience using Python or Shell.
  • Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of monitoring, logging and observability.
  • Proficiency with Git‑based source control workflows.
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication abilities.
