DevOps Engineer – Hybrid, Edinburgh

About the role

Bright Ascension is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join its Edinburgh office on a hybrid basis. You will help deliver a range of software products for the space industry, from embedded firmware to cloud‑based web applications, ensuring reliable, secure and efficient build and release pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure‑as‑Code for applications and services.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand requirements and continuously improve build, test and deployment processes.
• Set up and manage environments for manual and automated testing, ensuring stability, observability and security.
• Monitor, define and report on DORA metrics to drive delivery performance.
• Deploy and support test environments for customers, including on‑premise infrastructure.

Required profile

• Proven experience in DevOps or similar roles supporting software delivery.
• Strong understanding of version control, CI/CD, containerisation and cloud concepts.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid setting and communicate technical solutions effectively.

Required skills

• Distributed version control systems such as Git or Mercurial.
• CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps.
• Scripting languages – Python, Shell or PowerShell.
• Container technologies – Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, LXC.
• Artifact and dependency management and deployment tools.
