Digital Wing Engineering Placement – 12.5‑month Internship

About the role

Join Airbus’s Wing Architecture and Integration team in Filton to develop digital solutions that support the design and manufacturing of commercial aircraft wings. This 12.5‑month placement offers hands‑on experience across configuration management, digital mock‑up, and data‑driven engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop digital tools and automation using Python, Java, GScript and C++ to improve design and stress analysis processes.
• Support configuration management and digital mock‑up initiatives within the wing business.
• Influence digital transformation by applying data analytics on Skywise, Google Studio and internal platforms.
• Design and implement machine‑learning algorithms for engineering applications.
• Utilise Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality techniques for design visualisation.
• Assist the migration from server‑based Microsoft applications to cloud‑based Google applications.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent) programme and will remain a student throughout the placement.
• Positive, proactive attitude with strong problem‑solving and a willingness to propose new ideas.
• Collaborative team player with an interest in multicultural environments.
• Programming and optimisation skills are advantageous.

• Salary of £24,246 per annum (35 hours/week).
