Director, Cloud Infrastructure

About the role

Sanity.io is building an AI‑powered Content Operating System and needs a Director of Cloud Infrastructure to own the platform foundations that power its high‑scale services. You will lead the strategy and execution for cloud, Kubernetes, networking, observability, CI/CD, and incident response across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the infrastructure roadmap for scalability, reliability, security, cost, and developer experience.
• Lead teams responsible for GCP projects, Kubernetes clusters, networking, service discovery, gateways, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Separate Platform ownership from SRE, establishing clear standards, tooling, and on‑call practices.
• Raise reliability across production systems with dashboards, alerting, paging standards, and incident response processes.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Support, Sales, and Customer Success to meet uptime, latency, compliance, and cost goals.

Required profile

• Proven leadership of Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, or Cloud teams in a scaling SaaS or developer‑tools company.
• Experience operating high‑volume, multi‑region services with strict uptime, large cloud spend, and trust requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI, HIPAA, etc.).
• Deep technical expertise in Kubernetes, GCP or AWS, Terraform (or similar IaC), networking, API gateways, CDNs, observability, CI/CD, and incident response.
• Ability to make architectural decisions, set standards, and drive production readiness while balancing speed and quality.
• Strong communication skills to influence executives, product leaders, engineers, and customer‑facing teams.
