Director of Business Development

About the role

This senior position sits within the Medical Affairs & Scientific Communications division of a fast‑growing MedComms agency. You will lead the acquisition of new client partnerships and the expansion of strategic accounts across EMEA and the US.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full business development lifecycle: identify opportunities, qualify leads, develop solutions, price, create proposals, pitch, and support contract negotiations.
• Collaborate with scientific and client‑services teams to craft compliant, value‑focused proposals.
• Grow existing accounts by spotting expansion opportunities across therapy areas and service lines, and translate them into revenue plans.
• Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, and client feedback to shape positioning and go‑to‑market strategies.
• Partner with delivery teams to ensure smooth hand‑over from sale to implementation, driving client satisfaction and retention.
• Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline visibility using CRM systems.

Required profile

• Proven success in business development within a medical communications agency.
• Track record of converting opportunities into long‑term partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical clients.
• Strong stakeholder management, able to engage C‑suite and multi‑disciplinary buying groups.
• Experience leading end‑to‑end pitches and coordinating cross‑functional inputs.
