Director of Finance – Full‑time or Part‑time

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious independent school for a Director of Finance to join the Senior Leadership Team. The role can be undertaken on a full‑time basis or part‑time (four days a week) and offers hybrid working flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial strategy and long‑term planning for the school.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, cash‑flow and financial reporting.
• Present financial insight and performance to the Board of Governors.
• Deliver statutory accounts, oversee audits and ensure compliance.
• Support major capital and development projects.
• Oversee commercial operations, governance, risk and business planning.
• Lead, develop and inspire a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Proven finance leadership experience at senior level.
• Strategic commercial thinking with strong analytical ability.
• Inspirational leadership and excellent stakeholder management.
• Ability to balance big‑picture strategy with day‑to‑day delivery.
• Experience in education or not‑for‑profit sector is desirable but not essential.
