Director of Governance, Assurance & Quality

About the role

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a senior leader to drive governance, assurance and quality across its three hospitals. The role will shape the Trust’s risk strategy, oversee the Quality Account and ensure robust patient‑safety and clinical audit processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a clear ward‑to‑board line of sight for quality governance, assurance and risk across all divisions.
• Lead the Trust Risk Strategy, corporate and divisional risk registers and support the Board Assurance Framework.
• Oversee the annual Quality Account, clinical audit and effectiveness programmes, ensuring alignment with national priorities.
• Deliver the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and the national patient‑safety training syllabus.
• Coordinate investigations of serious incidents, manage learning and liaise with external bodies.
• Line‑manage the Patient Safety, Risk Management, Medical Examiner’s Office and Clinical Audit & Effectiveness teams and their budgets.

Required profile

• Values‑led senior NHS leader with Master’s level education or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in quality governance, risk management and assurance within a multi‑site healthcare setting.
• Proven track record of leading change and embedding a culture of openness, transparency and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of NHS quality governance frameworks, risk registers and patient‑safety incident response.
• Experience in managing clinical audit, effectiveness and national audit programmes.
