Director of Solutions Engineering - EMEA

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is looking for a Director of Solutions Engineering to lead its solution engineering organisation across EMEA. The role covers executive-level pre-sales technical solution design, end-to-end solution implementation and the post-go-live commercial ramp-up for selective clients. It is a London-based position with three days in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and scale the EMEA Solutions Engineering teams, fostering technical excellence, customer obsession and collaboration.
• Develop and execute the global vision and strategy for the Solutions Engineering function, aligned with sales and growth objectives.
• Own the technical sales strategy, enabling the team to deliver product demonstrations, proofs of concept and sophisticated solution designs.
• Act as an executive partner to Sales and Product, influencing the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
• Implement scalable processes, playbooks and best practices across the pre-sales and implementation lifecycle, from technical discovery and solutioning to RFP responses.
• Represent Airwallex as a senior technical leader in customer meetings, industry events and executive briefings.

Required profile

• Significant track record leading and scaling global or multi-regional presales, sales engineering or solutions architecture teams in EMEA, with 3+ years in a senior leadership capacity.
• 10+ years of experience in technical, client-facing roles, with a background in engineering, software development or product.
• Deep understanding of enterprise sales cycles, go-to-market motions and how to position a technical solution.
• Strong executive communication and presentation skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to commercial and engineering audiences.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline preferred.
