Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join a manufacturing client in Selby. The role involves maintaining and operating critical plant equipment, ensuring safe and efficient performance across boilers, gas turbines, and related process systems.

Key responsibilities

• Provide electrical and instrumentation repair and maintenance services.
• Run day‑to‑day operations of boilers, gas turbines and skids.
• Monitor boiler and water‑treatment plant, adjusting settings as required.
• Monitor process‑gas combustion conditions and adjust fuel combinations.
• Liaise with Engineering and Production departments.
• Carry out planned, predictive and reactive electrical maintenance.
• Perform fault finding, testing, calibration, installation and commissioning of process instrumentation.
• Isolate electrical plant in line with permit‑to‑work procedures.
• Diagnose faults and implement rectification solutions.
• Install and commission new or repaired machinery and equipment.
• Execute all work safely, adhering to site safety procedures and trade‑related practices.

Required profile

• Recognised electrical/C&I engineering apprenticeship, preferably in a heavy process industry.
• HNC in electrical/automation discipline (desirable).
• Competence in isolation, electrical safety and safe panel entry.
• Previous experience in roles such as Electrical Maintenance Engineer, EC&I Engineer, Automation Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Robotics Engineer, or similar.
