Electrical & Mechanical Building Services Technician – £45k‑£47k

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Electrical & Mechanical Building Services Technician to join our Estates Engineering team in Hatfield. You will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and compliance of mechanical and electrical services across a large, multi‑functional facility.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high standards of mechanical and electrical services throughout the site.
• Plan and carry out routine scheduled maintenance of plant and equipment with minimal disruption.
• Participate in a 1‑in‑6 on‑call rota, including weekend and bank‑holiday site checks.
• Work staggered shifts (Week 1: 07:30‑16:00, Week 2: 09:30‑18:00).

Required profile

• Qualification in Electrical engineering (BS7671 & C&G 2391) or Mechanical engineering (full‑term apprenticeship).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required.

Required skills

• BS7671 compliance and C&G 2391 knowledge.
• Domestic and low‑temperature hot‑water systems (LTHW).
• Motor controls and relay logic.
• Air handling units (AHUs), fan‑coil units (FCUs) and chilled‑water systems.
• Windows‑based computer systems.
• CMMS and BMS platforms.
