Electrician – In‑house Estates Maintenance (Permanent)

About the role
The University of Salford is seeking a qualified Electrician to join its Estates & Facilities maintenance team. You will be responsible for keeping a diverse campus estate safe, compliant and fully operational for staff, students and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Planned preventative maintenance of 415 V/230 V electrical systems and equipment, including visual sub‑station inspections.
- Reactive electrical repairs and fault diagnosis, primarily small‑power and lighting circuits.
- Minor installation works such as new supplies and single‑phase/three‑phase circuitry.
- Support university electrical safety and control procedures through safe maintenance practices.
- Work independently or as part of a trades team, collaborating with plumbers, joiners, handypersons and external contractors.
- Participate in the out‑of‑hours emergency call‑out rota.
Required profile
- City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations.
- Successfully completed AM2 assessment.
- Ability to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
- Competence in installing single‑phase and three‑phase electrical systems.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices.
- Willingness to support minor joinery and plumbing tasks when required.
- Strong communication skills and a professional, courteous approach.

- AM2 assessment qualification.

- Permanent contract with a competitive salary range £33,951 – £37,694 per annum.
