Electrician – Social Housing Repairs

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Electrician to join a leading social housing contractor’s reactive maintenance team. The role is based in Luton and covers properties across Luton, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge, delivering high‑quality electrical repairs, maintenance and installations in occupied social housing.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out reactive electrical repairs, maintenance and installations within occupied social housing properties.
• Diagnose electrical faults quickly and aim for first‑time fixes.
• Perform electrical testing, inspection and remedial work in line with regulations.
• Complete job reports and update work orders using a PDA or mobile device.
• Maintain company van stock and use materials efficiently.
• Provide excellent customer service while working professionally in tenants’ homes.
• Manage daily workload independently and support the wider maintenance team as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Electrician in social housing, domestic maintenance or reactive repairs.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Required skills

• 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification (or equivalent) – desirable.
• AM2 qualification – advantageous.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities.
• Good knowledge of current electrical regulations and safe working practices.
