Electronics Manufacturing Buyer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Purchasing team at our Huntingdon manufacturing site. You will play a pivotal part in securing electronic components needed for production and new product introductions, working closely with franchised distributors, alternative sources and, when appropriate, the grey market.

Key responsibilities

• Source components based on forecast demand, usage data and production requirements.
• Issue RFQs, collect supplier responses and place orders through franchised distributors.
• Identify and engage alternative suppliers to fill supply gaps.
• Obtain and file order acknowledgements, ensuring accurate record‑keeping.
• Report regularly on purchasing progress, risks and supply issues.
• Support new projects and attend NPI meetings as required.
• Deputise for the Purchasing Manager when needed.
• Assist the Quality Manager in resolving supplier quality issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience buying electronic components in a fast‑moving manufacturing environment.
• Strong numeracy, literacy and general office administration abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to work independently.
• Professional telephone manner and ability to build relationships quickly.
• Commercial awareness and solid negotiation skills.
• Proactive, driven and able to prioritise effectively.
