Embedded Software Engineer – UAVs

About the role

Archangel Autonomy designs low‑SWaP embedded devices that bring edge AI to air and ground platforms. As an Embedded Software Engineer you will design, prototype and build software for our UXV navigation co‑pilot platform, working with cameras, IMUs, LIDARs, radios and compute modules.

Key responsibilities

• Capture requirements, design, build and test software for small‑volume edge compute devices.
• Develop drivers, boot logic, board bring‑up, control/state‑machine interfaces and deep‑learning inference pipelines.
• Integrate cameras, ISPs, wireless mesh/IoT communications, battery monitoring and GPS/GNSS positioning.
• Support rapid PCB prototyping, liaise with other teams, research new micro‑controllers and conduct hardware testing such as radio range and solar‑charging efficiency.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience delivering commercial embedded software.
• Strong C/C++ skills, familiarity with Python and object‑oriented programming.
• Understanding of Linux kernel, device trees and hardware interfaces (SPI, UART, CAN, USB).
• Experience with bare‑metal development on STM32, ARM Cortex‑M0 and RTOS environments.
• Willingness to travel for field tests (up to 10% of the time).
