Emergency Nurse Practitioner – Western General Hospital

About the role

The Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) will work within the Emergency Department at Western General Hospital, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership, supporting the multidisciplinary team to provide rapid assessment, treatment and referral for urgent presentations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based care plans, including prescribing and ordering investigations.
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing staff and junior colleagues.
• Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals and support services to ensure seamless patient pathways.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Qualified as a Nurse Practitioner with experience in emergency or acute care.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and make clinical decisions.

• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.

Required skills

• Advanced clinical assessment and decision‑making in emergency settings.
• Prescribing authority and competence in ordering diagnostic tests.
