Employee Relations Advisor

About the role

We are seeking an Employee Relations Advisor to join a leading national organisation’s HR team in Manchester. You will support managers and employees across the UK, providing expert guidance on employee relations matters and helping to build a positive, high‑performing workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, performance, capability and conduct issues.
• Coach and support managers on best practice in employee relations.
• Conduct investigations and support formal hearings and appeals.
• Ensure compliance with employment law, company policies and internal procedures.
• Analyse ER trends and recommend actions to reduce risk and improve employee experience.
• Support organisational change projects as required.
• Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and processes.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple locations nationwide.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Employee Relations Advisor, HR Advisor or similar HR role with a strong ER focus.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
• Experience managing complex employee relations cases independently.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to influence, coach and challenge managers effectively.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach with excellent organisational abilities.
• CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
