Employment Advocate – In‑House Litigation Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an Employment Advocate to join a leading Legal 500‑ranked law firm’s In‑House Advocacy Unit in Birmingham. This pure advocacy position focuses on Employment Tribunal work across commercial, health and education sectors, allowing you to specialise without managing a personal caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Represent clients at preliminary and final Employment Tribunal hearings.
• Draft pleadings, opinions and advisory letters for a diverse client base, including NHS trusts and universities.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers to shape the growth strategy of the Advocacy Unit.
• Mentor junior solicitors and support the development of their advocacy skills.

Required profile

• Qualified barrister or solicitor‑advocate with 2‑5 years post‑call/qualification experience.
• Proven experience in Employment Tribunal advocacy.
• Strong enthusiasm for employment law and commercial‑focused advice.
• Excellent drafting, presentation and relationship‑building abilities.
• Effective time and diary management and a collaborative team approach.
