Employment Lawyer – London

About the role

You will join the Government Legal Department in London, working alongside Ministers, senior officials and other legal professionals to provide advice on a wide range of legal matters, with a particular focus on employment law.

Key responsibilities

• Advise government departments on employment‑related legal issues.
• Provide clear guidance and risk‑based recommendations to senior officials.
• Manage a caseload of employment law matters, including litigation and advisory work.
• Collaborate with colleagues across litigation, commercial and EU legislation teams.

Required profile

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Ability to think strategically and creatively about complex legal problems.
• Strong judgement, impartiality and confidence in delivering balanced advice.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues clearly.
• Willingness to obtain DV security clearance for London‑based work.
