Employment Solicitor – Education Sector (4+ PQE)

About the role

Join a nationally recognised education & charities team within a leading UK law firm. You will advise a diverse portfolio of education providers on complex employment matters, working closely with senior school and university leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercially‑focused employment advice to independent schools, academies, colleges and universities.
• Handle both contentious and non‑contentious matters, including disciplinary, grievance, safeguarding, redundancy and restructuring cases.
• Advise on employment aspects of academy conversions, mergers, governance changes and senior appointments.
• Draft and review employment contracts, policies, staff handbooks and other HR documentation.
• Collaborate with headteachers, governors, bursars, COOs and senior leadership teams as an extension of their in‑house counsel.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in employment law.
• Broad experience across a range of employment matters; experience in the education sector is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to build long‑term client relationships.
• Excellent communication skills with a talent for delivering clear, practical advice.
