Engineer Surveyor – Lift & Crane (Newbury/Basingstoke)

About the role

Zurich Engineering is expanding its field‑based Engineer Surveyor team. The role offers full flexibility to manage your own diary, service a client area across Newbury, Thatcham and Basingstoke, and represent Zurich Engineering as the ‘Face of Zurich’ to a varied client base.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out hands‑on statutory inspections of lifts, cranes and related equipment.
• Provide expert engineering opinions to ensure client compliance with legislation and high standards.
• Report findings using a rugged laptop and issue electronic reports to clients.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate results clearly to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experienced engineer with a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines.
• Level 4 (HND/HNC) qualification preferred; Level 3 minimum – training provided.
• Hands‑on experience with lifts and/or crane equipment, or related manufacturing/maintenance roles.
• Full valid UK driving licence and willingness to work paid overtime.

Required skills

• P601 LEV qualification (advantageous).
• Inspection & test qualification such as C&G 2391‑52 or equivalent.
• Strong IT skills for electronic reporting using rugged laptops.
