About the role
The Engineering Buyer Manager will lead the procurement of engineering components, materials and services that support production, R&D and after‑sales activities. Reporting to senior management, this role is responsible for supplier performance, cost control and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Key responsibilities
- Lead procurement of engineering parts, raw materials, tooling and services.
- Ensure on‑time availability of materials to meet production schedules.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiations and performance reviews.
- Deliver cost‑saving targets and maintain accurate pricing data in Business Central.
- Motivate and develop a buying and planning team of three buyers and one planner.
- Support new product introduction, engineering changes and component obsolescence.
- Optimise stock levels while minimising excess and obsolete inventory.
Required profile
- Proven experience in engineering procurement/buying within manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, materials and engineering components.
- Experience managing and motivating a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and contracts.
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills.
- Experience working in ISO 9001 certified companies.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Business Central).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings.
