Engineering Department Manager

About the role

The Engineering Department Manager will lead the engineering team at Morrisons' Northwich site, ensuring machinery uptime and supporting the asset care programme. Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, you will plan work, minimise downtime and drive reliability across all equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prioritise maintenance work to minimise machinery downtime and maximise resource utilisation.
• Lead and support the Morrisons asset care programme, repairing and optimising equipment reliability.
• Co‑ordinate maintenance priorities with the Maintenance team and production to avoid disruption.
• Undertake crisis incident management, accident and near‑miss investigations, and enforce discipline procedures.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP principles and relevant electrical wiring regulations.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical/electrical engineering (or BTEC Level 3).
• Proven experience in an engineering and fault‑finding role within an FMCG environment, preferably food manufacturing.
• Demonstrated people‑management success delivering results through a team.
• Understanding of HACCP principles; IEE qualification and 18th edition wiring regulations advantageous.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities to develop large, diverse teams.
