Engineering Site Lead

About the role

Perplexity is building a strategic London office to drive AI‑powered search and knowledge tools across Europe. As the Engineering Site Lead you will shape the site’s culture, build high‑performing infrastructure teams and ensure technical excellence. You will report to senior leadership and collaborate with global product, engineering and research groups.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead the London office, defining cultural foundations, operating principles and community engagement.
• Directly manage and mentor infrastructure or AI‑infrastructure teams (5‑15+ engineers), setting technical direction and architectural standards.
• Drive deployment, monitoring, scalability and reliability of cloud‑based AI/ML workloads.
• Partner with People/HR, Finance and Operations to ensure seamless site operations and talent acquisition.
• Collaborate with global engineering leaders to align on standards, best practices and cross‑site initiatives.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in infrastructure, cloud or AI‑infrastructure roles.
• 3+ years of people‑management experience, having built and scaled engineering teams.
• Proven track record of establishing or significantly growing an engineering site or office.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills in fast‑paced, high‑growth tech environments.

Required skills

• Distributed systems and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure).
• Infrastructure automation and orchestration (Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines).
• GPU infrastructure, ML training and inference pipelines, model serving at scale.
• Infrastructure automation tools and container orchestration.
