Engineering Technician – Temporary (2 months) – £16.93/h

About the role

This temporary position supports a leading biotech company’s R&D and workshop teams, developing innovative insect‑control solutions. You will work hands‑on in a mixed workshop and occasional lab environment, building and testing prototypes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly and build work using metals, plastics and 3D‑printed components.
• Operate workshop tools such as drills, laser cutter and basic power tools.
• Set up and run a 3D printer (training provided) for prototype production.
• Support trial‑and‑error testing and prototype builds.
• Read and follow engineering drawings accurately.
• Maintain safe working practices in both workshop and lab settings.

Required profile

• Practical, hands‑on attitude with confidence using tools.
• Ability to follow instructions and engineering drawings precisely.
• Willingness to ask questions when unsure.
• Basic computer literacy, especially for 3D‑printer software.
• No degree required; vocational or workshop experience preferred.
• Strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
