Engineering Trainer – Mechanical (Apprenticeship)

About the role

The Engineering Trainer will design and deliver high‑quality technical training for apprentices across mechanical and electronic disciplines. You will work with small learner groups, both face‑to‑face and online, to develop practical and theoretical skills aligned with current apprenticeship standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical and/or electronic training at Levels 2, 3 and HTC/HNC (Level 4) to foster independent learning.
• Teach core mechanical subjects such as Engineering Maths, Engineering Science, Mechanical Principles, Materials and Fluid Power.
• Teach electronic subjects including Electrical Principles, Digital Principles, Electronics, PLC and Robotics.
• Create and maintain learning resources, schemes of work and assessment materials.
• Manage physical learning spaces and resources to meet guided learning hour requirements.
• Integrate relevant industry‑partner training offers into the apprenticeship curriculum.
• Monitor the learning environment and ensure health, safety and welfare compliance.
• Provide regular constructive feedback and record learner progress.

Required profile

• Level 3 Engineering qualification.
• Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
• Recognised Assessor qualification (e.g., A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement) or willingness to obtain.
• Functional Skills Level 2/GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English (grade C or above) – desirable.
• Quality Assurance, coaching or higher‑education qualifications in engineering – desirable.
