Estates Supervisor (Caretaker) – School Site

About the role

The Estates Supervisor (Caretaker) will manage the day‑to‑day operation, safety, maintenance and security of a school site in South West London. Working closely with the Facilities Business Partner, Principal and the wider Estates & Facilities team, you will ensure the premises, grounds and associated services run smoothly and meet the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the site’s planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedule and record all activities.
• Oversee daily site operations such as opening/closing, security checks, building inspections and alarm response.
• Conduct regular health & safety inspections, risk assessments, fire safety tests and support evacuation drills.
• Liaise with external contractors, ensuring safe working practices, permits, compliance and quality delivery.
• Perform minor repairs, basic redecoration and maintain outdoor areas including playgrounds and driveways.
• Ensure statutory testing (PAT, legionella, equipment inspections) is completed and documented.
• Support minibus maintenance and, when qualified, carry out occasional driving duties.

Required profile

• Enhanced DBS with Child and Adult Barring clearance.
• Experience in building maintenance, PPM scheduling and reactive repairs.
• Good knowledge of health & safety legislation, COSHH and risk assessment procedures.
• Strong communication and record‑keeping abilities.
• Clean, valid driving licence.

What we offer

• £22‑£23 per hour paid through an umbrella company.
• Full‑time hours (42.5 h/week) with a 7:30 am – 5:00 pm schedule.
• Potential for permanent placement after the initial contract period.
