Estimator – Construction Fit‑Out Projects

About the role

The Estimator will deliver accurate and competitive cost estimates for fit‑out construction projects up to £500k across a range of sectors. Working closely with the pre‑construction team, you will support commercial decisions and keep clients informed throughout the process.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates covering materials, labour and equipment.
• Analyse drawings, specifications and other project documents to determine requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure full project coverage.
• Challenge estimates and quotes to achieve the most commercially beneficial outcome.
• Assess risks and opportunities and incorporate them into cost models.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
• Prepare tender submissions and support the bid process for new projects.
• Monitor and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions.

Required profile

• Proven experience estimating projects up to £3 million in value.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods and materials.
• Understanding of estimating software such as ConQuest and proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence competitive tenders.
• Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Effective communication with project managers and clients.
• Proactive, collaborative approach to problem‑solving.
