European Category Director

About the role

The European Category Director will shape and execute category strategies across Greystar’s European operations, driving commercial value and service benefits. Reporting to the Senior Director of European Procurement, the role partners with senior stakeholders and leads a team of Procurement Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Own the category strategy and sourcing activity for major spend categories.
• Negotiate group‑wide strategic supplier deals and frameworks.
• Manage and develop Procurement Managers embedded in each market.
• Oversee and approve procurement activity executed by the Procurement Managers.
• Track and report benefits delivery and project status.
• Drive adoption of procurement best practice across markets.
• Identify and lead ESG initiatives within the supply chain.
• Support implementation of procurement policies, processes, systems and tools.
• Engage senior stakeholders to demonstrate procurement value and build trust.
• Shape and manage a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field (preferred) and MCIPS certification.
• Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, including at least 3 years at Director level with European or global remit.
• Broad category experience with deep expertise in at least one relevant category (e.g., IT, FM, Capital Projects).
• Proven track record delivering EBITDA‑impacting procurement savings at scale.
• Demonstrable European sourcing experience and knowledge of Greystar’s European markets.
• Strong commercial rigour balanced with service outcomes.
• Ability to build and develop procurement capability in an operations‑led organisation.
