About the role
The Executive Director for Children’s Services & Education will lead the delivery of high‑quality education, SEND and social‑care services across Bournemouth. This senior, values‑led position requires an energetic leader who champions collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Shape the vision and strategic direction for children’s services, ensuring alignment with council priorities.
- Oversee the delivery of education, SEND and social‑care programmes, driving quality and outcomes for children and young people.
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with schools, health providers, community organisations and other stakeholders.
- Manage budgets and financial performance, ensuring resources are used efficiently and transparently.
- Embed the voices of children and young people into all decision‑making processes.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in public‑sector education, social care or related services.
- Strong commitment to child‑centred outcomes and values‑driven leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple agencies and partners.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
- Track record of financial stewardship and strategic planning.
