Experienced Building Surveyor – Midlands

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to work across the Midlands, assessing properties affected by fire, flood, storm and other perils. The role involves on‑site inspections, claim validation and coordination with contractors to ensure timely repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Review client and claim handler information and conduct detailed site visits to validate policy coverage.
• Communicate with policyholders to gather additional details and explain liability decisions.
• Create repair schedules and assess variation requests using company tools.
• Interpret policy wordings and apply insurer handling guidelines.
• Manage the full claim lifecycle from damage assessment through to final report submission.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety legislation and relevant regulations.
• Appoint and brief specialist contractors such as asbestos, drying, restoration and building contractors.

Required profile

• Relevant technical or loss adjusting experience, preferably with subsidence projects.
• Degree in Building Surveying (BSc Hons) or equivalent.
• MRICS qualification.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, Party Wall Act 1996, Building Regulations and Planning Legislation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
