Experienced Carpenter – Social Housing Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced carpenter to join a well‑established maintenance team delivering reactive and planned repairs across occupied social housing in East London and parts of Essex. The role is field‑based, offering a varied workload and the chance to ensure residents’ homes are safe, well‑maintained and finished to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out first‑ and second‑fix carpentry works in occupied and void properties.
• Hang and ease internal and external doors, repair or replace locks, handles and ironmongery.
• Perform kitchen repairs, including worktops, units and doors.
• Install and repair skirting boards, architraves and boxing‑in.
• Repair windows, frames and timber fixtures.
• Undertake general maintenance, make‑good works and minor multi‑trade tasks.
• Diagnose faults, complete repairs safely and efficiently.
• Use a PDA or job‑management system to receive and update work orders.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a carpenter within social housing, maintenance or repairs environments.
• Strong knowledge of first‑ and second‑fix carpentry techniques.
• Ability to work independently while part of a supportive team.
• Excellent problem‑solving, attention to detail and time‑management skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

What we offer
