Experienced School Receptionist & Administrator (SIMS)

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Receptionist/Administrator to manage the front‑of‑house operations of a well‑known school in East London. You will be the first point of contact for staff, students, parents and visitors, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment while supporting the school’s safeguarding and administrative processes.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the main school reception, greet visitors and handle enquiries.
- Operate the telephone system and monitor the reception email inbox.
- Support attendance monitoring and communicate student absence to parents.
- Provide general administrative support: filing, word processing, reprographics, ordering and distributing materials.
- Register late‑arriving students and offer translation assistance when required.
- Maintain student records and assist the Senior Leadership Team.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, act as fire warden and participate in first‑aid duties after training.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a school reception or similar administrative role.
- Good literacy, numeracy and ICT competence.
- Commitment to equal opportunities and the school’s ethos.
- Understanding of safeguarding policies (desirable).
- Willingness to undertake first‑aid training (desirable).
Required skills
- Proficiency with SIMS (School Information Management System).
