Experienced Teaching Assistant – Primary School (EYFS/KS1/KS2)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a friendly, inclusive mainstream primary school in Newham, East London. The role starts in September 2026 and offers a full‑time, long‑term placement supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
• Deliver targeted interventions in phonics, reading, writing and mathematics.
• Provide 1:1 and small‑group assistance to pupils who need extra help.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil engagement.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to the teacher.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Support school trips, enrichment activities and wider school life.

Required profile

• Minimum one year experience as a Teaching Assistant in a UK primary school.
• Experience supporting pupils in EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive, patient and proactive attitude.
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour support abilities.
• Genuine passion for helping children learn and succeed.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
